Pictures of Wild Geranium, a.k.a. Spotted Geranium, a.k.a. Cranesbill Root (Geranium maculatum)

Wild Geranium root (also known as Cranesbill Root) is a tannin-rich (10 - 20 percent) herb.  It is highly astringent and styptic.  Root juice or strong root tea was once used for canker sores and to stop the bleeding or weeping of wounds. The plant transplants very well to gardens and is a great herb to grow in part shady east or north areas.

What kinds of areas can Wild Geranium be found in?  It loves the rich soil of wooded areas but does need part sun.  So, where ever the woods break a bit, or on the boarders of rich wooded areas, you will find this flower.  If the sunshine is too sparse it will only produce a few flowers.

Are you harvesting (a.k.a wildcrafting)?  Although the root is the primary thing to harvest, in emergency, the whole, fresh leaves were used on bleeding wounds.

Would you like to use my pictures?  I have a solution that would be wonderful for both of us. You are free to right click and copy my photographs.  I ask that you give a visible link back to this page in the same location as the picture.  Once it is set up on your website send me a note and I'll put a link to your page, on the picture page - as someone legally using my photos.  This would give both of us reciprocal links, which search engines love.

Here's what I require:
*  Right click and copy the image to your own computer.  When you are loading it on your page upload the picture to your own server.  In other words - please do not use the link location thereby using my bandwidth.

*  Do not edit the picture in any way - except for size, always keep the aspect ratio.  Please leave my copyright information on the image.  All my images are formated to be under 100 kb.

*  Your site must not contain offensive material and must somehow be related to herbs.

*  If you are using this in written material I will require seeing a copy of the material (with the placement of the picture) before I give my approval.  We can exchange mailing information along with copyright use / sale via eMail.
