Doing It Wrong?

Some times you have to do something wrong in order to learn the right way. Instead of waiting for the wonderful SBI to give me what I wanted - I forged ahead on my own. Geez, you'd think I would learn by now that SBI will solve the problem. I wanted a navigation bar that I could categorize. So, instead of saying anything (or just waiting) I created one and reloaded all my pages with my new navigation bar. This decision also created a lot of work for me, work I didn't need to be doing. So now SBI has created a navigation bar that I can categorize. I'm switching back to the SBI one as it's easier and looks nicer. Yes, it's a lot of work I don't need to be doing (ha ha) but I've learned my lesson.

By the way, if you'd like to create an online business SBI is the only way to go. If you're interested use the link just below this post to get more information about SBI.

Hectic Summer

It has been a hectic Summer this year. I started packing for a New Mexico trip in May - that got postponed. In June I had to pack the apartment up and moved into a house. This also took up July, unpacking. In August the trip to New Mexico was back on and I started packing for that, leaving in September. Shortly after arriving here, in New Mexico, my Mother and I took off for California so we could visit with my son, daughter-in-law and grandbaby. Upon returning my brother (with a little of Mom and my help) replaced the entire kitchen floor. So now - things are finally settling down. It's time to get BACK TO WORK on the website. And wow - there's a lot to do and a lot of new information to share. Needless to say, I'm very excited!!! Stay tuned for a lot of fun to come.

Wow! That was the biggest learning curve I've ever been through, lol. Not only did I have to figure out the pattern, photo it as it was being created and write it all - I also had to figure out how to turn it into a PDF file and load it on the web so it's instant delivery to everyone who buys. I'm not complaining - but in all honesty, my brain hurts, lol. On the BRIGHT side - now that I know how to do all the computer stuff, writing and creating more patterns is going to be much easier :-) I actually can't wait to get started on the rest of them.

Enjoy the opening of the Pattern Shop - just click the link below :-)

Turning Garbage Into Treasures

I am about a week away (providing the final tests go well) from the first release of the first recycled product and I'm VERY EXCITED about this. For each of the recycled products you will have the choice of buying a finished product or buying the complete instructions (with pictures) to make it yourself. Creating treasures out of things we normally throw away is such an incredible feeling. Not only do we save money when we do this, but we save Mother Earth as well. Stay tuned :-)

Moving

One of the problems with moving into an old house is that it's - well - old. I was packed and out of the apartment by the 29th of June. The final clean was done at the apartment on the 4th of July. However, getting into this house has been one problem after the other. Plumbing not working, electric not working to all the outlets, phone problems, etc. Yesterday (July 8th) I finally got a working kitchen sink, and stove. Although many things have been unpacked, the real work begins today. What this means for the website is that I will most likely be delayed yet another week.

The Power of an eZine

Over the last week (aside of cleaning, packing and getting ready to move) I've been studying the power of eZines. What does this have to do with an Herbal Site? Actually - A LOT. There are tons of things that don't quiet make a web page and aren't exactly suited to blogging. For example; recipes on a website are great - but they are hard to print as the print feature picks up the whole page, not just the recipe. And blogging a recipe is also good, but in addition to the printing problem a blog buries the recipe after a while, making it hard to get at. Because an eZine goes to your eMail address you could store it in a way that makes sense to you, and it would be easer to print. The bottom line - an Herbal eZine will be coming real soon :-)

My head is reeling from all the things happening around me and I find myself needing to focus on just today - and possibly tomorrow, lol.
Time For The Little Things

Every once in a while a website builder needs to step back and attend to the little things. Little things like an extra space where it doesn't belong, a misspelled word that I've over looked, the quality of a picture, and changing a sentence that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I know this may not be important in the 'big picture', however it makes me feel good to present the best possible site I can.

Wow - there's just too much to say about all of this, but it all boils down to - I'm not going to New Mexico as planned. Sometimes the Universe just speaks very loud and you have no choice but to listen.

Heading West - My Birthday

It appears as this coming weekend is the weekend to head out West to the Mountain Home. I'm finishing up the last of the packing, my step-son fixed the brakes on my truck, the money is coming together (a bit slow - but it is happening), and other obstacles are clearing out as well. Even though it's a rainy day outside, life is good. Today I am 53 and I am happy with my age and all that I've seen and done with my life so far. I am looking forward to the next 50 or so years :-)

Bootlake, Northern Indiana

I've just spent two wonderful days at Bootlake in Northern Indiana. I've taken over 210 photographs of herbs and plants. That equals about 60 total species. I am now working on the long task of getting them ready and they will be loaded on the website in the weeks to come. However, on the Herbal Blog I've shared three lovely pictures of the area. I invite you to use the link below this post, and have a look (while you're there sign up as a follower so you don't miss any of the adventures). Hopefully (weather permitting) I'll be able to get back out to another area tomorrow to get even more pictures.
