Farmers have relied on gardening days for generations. Even one of the oldest farming publications, The Old Farmer's Almanac, has articles on gardening days. I can remember the calendars that my Grandmother had, always showing what day was good for planting and harvesting. As a matter of fact she is the one that first told me the 'blank' days were tending days.
| Many calendars feature a little
symbol to tell you what kind of day it
is. Naturally these days refer to
gardeners and farmers. However, I think many people miss out by not
using these astrological 'good times' in the rest of their life. Primarily these days are calculated by the phase of the Moon. However, the position of Planets and the Astrological Signs also play a big part. If you visit the Old Farmer's Almanac (link above) don't forget to give them your location. This will change information on the site - just for you. |

Tending Days - (those days that aren't marked on your calenders) are perfect for study, working on projects you started during a planting day, buying new equipment (this enables good tending), beginning advertising campaigns (this symbolizes tending an idea or product that's ready), spending time with children or family, sealing your house for winter or opening it for spring (tending to your home), and yes - working your compost pile, and tending to your gardens and farms. |
